Guidance for using online contracts

The SBCC online service allows the creation, download and verification of standard building contracts and their related documents.

SBCC online contracts are designed to be intuitive and easy to use, however if you experience any problems guidance can be found here.

Frequently Asked Questions

For frequently asked questions about this site and using the SBCC online service see our FAQ’s.

Which Contract is Appropriate?

To establish which of the current contracts would be most suitable for your purpose, please click here for the statement of appropriate use supplied with each contract.

Homeowner Contracts

To purchase a homeowner contract alone you do not need to take out a full subscription as these contracts are not available for the online completion which the full subscription supports. You can simply register your details for a free subscription and then purchase the contract required. The system will then generate a pdf. The pdf will be located in Your Account (top right of the screen), under 'My Contracts'.

Dispute Resolution

Guidance and assistance on the resolution of disputes arising from SBCC contracts is available through the following organisations. Services provided include Mediation, Expert Witnesses, Adjudication and Arbitration. These organisations will be named in the new SBCC 2024 edition contracts.

Please note, SBCC ceased to be a nominating body for both Adjudication and Arbitration in 2024. Any enquiries will now be referred to the above organisations.

Education Subscription

Education subscriptions allow students and staff, at educational institutions, to view (but not complete) all contracts available online. Education subscriptions are free but must be requested by the University/college, not individual students, and should only be set up where they are for and restricted to staff and students on relevant courses.
