SBCC Lecture - The Honeywood File Revisited

The SBCC held their State of the Industry Lecture 2024 - The Honeywood File Revisited, on the 28th February in the Cornerstone Centre, Edinburgh. This Free in person lecture, and networking event, was kindly sponsored by Hardies Property & Construction Consultants.
SBCC Chair, Ysella Jago, introduced the evening while our guest speaker Peter Drummond, principal of Peter Drummond, Architect Ltd, discussed the 1920's classic book 'The Honeywood File: An Adventure in Building' by H.B. Creswell.
The book which is described as a 'comic classic' is still well-known to many in the construction industry today and Peter discussed how it is not so much a light-hearted lesson for graduates but a cautionary warning, as relevant now as it was in 1929.
Peter looked at some of the "challenges" that James Spin-love faced during his voyage of discovery and discussed their modern versions within the construction industry in this day and age.
